THE SIGNING APPOINTMENT
o Once the loan papers have been emailed to the escrow officer, your Realtor will set up an appointment for you to sign papers at the escrow company.
o Bring your driver’s license to the appointment, and be prepared to provide your thumb print, which is now required in all California real estate transactions.
o Allow an hour to an hour and a half for the signing appointment.
o At the signing appointment, you will receive a final estimate of your down payment and closing costs, minus any deposits you have made.
o The final amount due at closing can be in the form of a cashier’s check or bank wire, to arrive the morning before your closing date. If you are wiring your funds, the escrow company will provide wire instructions for your bank.
o You will receive a complete copy of all the documents you signed when you leave the title company and will have plenty of time to review everything and ask any questions before the closing.
o After your papers are signed, they are sent back to the lender for review. The loan will be set up to fund 1 to 2 days later.
o The funds will actually arrive from the lender to the escrow company the day before closing.
o The escrow officer will call you agent when your transaction is on record, and you will receive your keys the same day.
