I can pre-qualify you -- i.e., give you a general idea of how much an investor will lend you -- over the phone, in about ten minutes. After that, we will either set up an in-person appointment or I will tell you the steps you need to take to qualify.
I will send you a checklist of items to our initial meeting. Please bring originals -- I will make copies for you. (Please bring "hard copies" of your bank statements if at all possible -- most lenders do not accept online bank statements unless they contain your name, address and the full bank account number.) I will usually pull your credit report before we meet.
We will fill out your loan application together. At this time, you are not applying for a specific mortgage, but are merely giving me permission to verify your assets and income information, and to obtain your credit report.
At our meeting, we will discuss the loan programs for which you qualify, and I will give you a spreadsheet showing your price range and what your monthly payments and closing costs will be.
